The 2024 NAPCA Summer Workshop, held in August in Houston, Texas, brought together key industry patrons from oil and gas and other pertinent industries in support. This workshop featured four prominent speakers who tackled some of the most pressing topics in the sector. Discussions centered around the future of political influence, decarbonization, specific logistical challenge, and the integration of technology in an ever evolving digital landscape. Key themes included driving sustainability while maintaining operational efficiency, the challenges of modernizing aging domestic infrastructure, and how the industry can embrace new technologies to remain competitive in a changing market.  We appreciate the strong attendance and hope that everyone in attendance took something substantial away from the experience.

  • Washington Update on Policies Shaping the Steel Industry
    Presented by Samir Kapadia from the Vogel Group, this session focused on recent federal policies affecting the steel industry. Kapadia discussed the impact of trade regulations, tariffs, and government actions influencing steel production and imports. He also highlighted legislative changes that may shape the industry’s future and how companies can navigate these evolving policies.

 

  • Line Pipe and its End-to-End Logistics
    Mihir Desai from Welspun Tubular delivered an insightful presentation on the complexities of the line pipe industry. He outlined the logistics involved from manufacturing to delivery, including challenges faced in supply chain management, transportation, and ensuring quality control throughout the process. Desai emphasized the importance of efficient logistics to maintain the industry’s competitiveness.

 

  • From the Oil Patch
    Dolte Cheramie from Corpac Group shared updates from the oil and gas sector, particularly focusing on the latest trends in the oil patch. Cheramie discussed market conditions, technological advancements, and emerging opportunities within the sector. He also explored the implications of these trends for suppliers and manufacturers, offering a forward-looking perspective on the industry’s direction.

 

  • OSHA Update
    James Shelton provided an important update on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. His presentation covered recent changes to safety standards, compliance requirements, and enforcement priorities. Shelton stressed the significance of adhering to OSHA guidelines to ensure workplace safety and avoid penalties, especially in industries like steel and oil where safety risks are prevalent.
